Turning Everything Around: My Simple Path to Freedom

Hey Tribe,

So, everyone craves that sweet taste of financial freedom, right? But how do you achieve it? I’ve realized it boils down to something quite simple: write down your goals and work on them every day. Sounds easy, but executing it is tougher than it sounds. Let me share how I’m making strides toward my goals.

Rock bottom hit me hard – job gone, bank account drained, marriage ended. There I was at 50, on antidepressants, feeling like the end had come. I had a reputation for losing money in ventures more than making it. But one thought kept me going – it’s only over when you’re dead. As long as I’m alive, I have a chance to turn things around.

First up, I needed to get by. So, I snagged a gig delivering packages, giving myself a year to clear my head and get ready. That year, “Meditations” by Marcus Aurelius became my anchor. Then, Jim Rohn’s teachings on YouTube hit me hard, especially “Change yourself first, and everything else will follow” and the concept that you attract success by being an attractive person.

So began my transformation. I made reading and tuning into success gurus like Jim Rohn, Earl Nightingale, and others part of my daily routine. My mornings involved walks while I absorbed audiobooks or seminars. I tackled every free dropshipping course I could find, invested in the top one on Udemy, and mastered Facebook ads. With a mentor’s guidance, I launched my first serious dropshipping store.

That store wasn’t the jackpot I had hoped for. Four months and too much money on ads later, I realized I had chosen the wrong product. But I didn’t let that stop me. I launched three more stores with different products, each time starting and closing them more swiftly, learning important lessons along the way.

Here’s what I’ve learned on the road to freedom:

  • Change Starts With You: Acknowledging the need for personal change was my turning point. It’s all about becoming a better version of yourself.
  • Stoicism for the Win: Stoicism kept me grounded, teaching me to focus on what I can control and to let go of what I can’t.
  • Persistence Pays Off: The journey is fraught with failures, but each failure teaches you a lesson.
  • Embrace Continuous Learning: E-commerce constantly evolves. Staying adaptable is crucial.
  • Value of Mentorship: Having a mentor who has navigated this path before is invaluable.

I’m still on this journey. Each setback and failure just brings me one step closer to success, teaching me about the market, consumer behavior, and most importantly, about myself. Like Marcus Aurelius said, “The obstacle in the path becomes the path.” Every setback has propelled me forward, shaping my journey to financial freedom. It’s a long and challenging journey, but it’s filled with opportunities for growth, learning, and ultimately, success.

Stay tuned, folks. There’s more on the way.
